Even decked as it is in ten-year-old tech, the 2008 Ducati 1098R is still one hell of a special motorcycle, and still commands onlookers' gaze when it rumbles and rattles past. Ducati made 450 copies of the 1098R, an extra-special version of an already incredible motorcycle.

To separate it from the 1098 and the 1098S, Bologna added 100cc to the big v-twin, though they stuck with the lower-displacement nomenclature. That gave the 381-pound Duc a total of 180 crank horsepower and very nearly 100 lb-ft of torque. At the time, it had the highest torque-to-weight ration of any bike ever made.
This particular 1098R, number 59 of 450, is in predictably incredible shape, especially considering it has done the best part of 9,000 miles. It has been livened up with a Termignoni exhaust, aluminum tank, and a nice crust of carbon fiber dress-ups to set it apart that much more.
